Someone else’s headline of ‘Last Workout of 2009′ made me realize - this is it. Today was my last run of 2009. In the rain no less. Procrastinated [darn 'Burn Notice' marathon :0)] and cleaned up the place before I figured I should get out before it gets dark.
It’s been a great running year for me - different runs, people to run with, PR in three categories - 5K, 10K, 6.7 mi. Not sure what 2010 will bring, I am sad not to be doing any runs but really just not feeling up to it [Resolution Run & Polar Bear dip tomorrow]. Wishing everyone a safe and happy New Year’s Eve - may 2010 bring you your health and fitness goals.

10 min elliptical - level 11 - 1.03 mi; 10 min bike; crunches/stretching. I am pretty sad from hearing the news about the Pierce County deputy who was taken off life support. Six officers dead in three months; three memorial services all almost exactly a month apart. The crazies seem to be taking over - who is to say the officer you see working/volunteering at your next race is not going be a victim of some jerk out there?

So pretty outside…and not as cool as expected. Knee is sore. Used The Stick and my quad/IT band was feeling it…dang. Think I’m going to stay away from races for awhile - sad :( But, gotta take it easy…so I tell myself…reason to slack off?

Woke up at 10ish, didn’t think there was enough time to get a run in before having to get ready for a 3pm wedding, felt depressed anyway [Christmas didn't end so well] and was going to lie in bed reading ‘Mansfield Park’ but it was so sunny and clear outside, I just got up and did 3.1. Knee felt sore, and for some reason my left arch, there always seems to be a wrinkle in the sock or something. Was not as cool as I thought - poured sweat the entire time. Gross! :) Ate too many calories today though. Have to work on that.

What a gorgeous Christmas morning - woke up to see the greenbelt & pond area behind my building covered in frost and frozen over. Had to step carefully because of ice, but the sun was out high melting everything. There were quite a few neighbors walking, but no one else running. My knee is still starting to feel a bit sore after 2 miles. I am worried about my next race and tempted just to drop out of the scene altogether, because I have a feeling my times won’t be close to what they were this past year. It’s hard though, when most of my friends are constantly running…

Wasn’t in the greatest mood this morning, gave me the energy to pound the pavement pretty hard and up the hills. Something about Christmas time, just makes me sad/angry. Bad idea, because both my legs were super tight from running hills on Tuesday. It’s all good though, because the PT took care of the knots. He is hinting towards custom orthodics [sigh], and to watch out for my IT band on the right side.
